One of the manifestations, we all eagerly wait, will take place on May 19th – it is called the Museum Night!
In the period from 5 PM to 1 AM, sixty museums, galleries, memorial houses, legacies and monuments complexes in Belgrade will be opened for visitors.
This year, you will be able to enjoy a museum tour that is divided into six parts. Take a walk through the historical or contemporary tours, see what makes Belgrade with style, take your kids to the children's tour, see Belgrade from the angle of science, technology and architecture lovers, and there is also an interesting program called “The Artist is always present”.
The theme of this year's spectacular artistic event, entitled "Victors and Victories", is marking 100 years since the end of the World War I (aka the Great War). It seems that the winners and the defeated ones are still counting, and despite the documentation and vivid memories, new life stories and truths are discovered every day.
This is the 15th edition of the Museum Night, entitled "Belgrade's winning spirit conquering the whole city". In addition to the common and usual routes, for this museum night, we recommend the Untold Stories route. It takes you to the house of the Veljković family that hides an incredible art and historical stories and objects from the 19th and 20th century. Also, a small number of people know about the rich collection of the Red Cross of Serbia, which will show the centuries-old exhibits from the Great War to the audience.
If you are fascinated by means of transportation, visit the exhibition in JKP GSP Belgrade where you can see how city transport looked like a hundred years ago and at which historical stations Belgrade was located. The GSP Blacksmith Museum is a logical sequel to it, where you can see the machines and tools from the beginning of the 20th century.
Another unusual site that will open its doors to the public, for the Museum Night, is also the Museum of the Faculty of Chemistry. The room of the first rector of the Belgrade University will be also opened for visitors. While studying lavish furniture, documentation, and instruments, chemistry students will tell you everything about a DNA molecule that dictates life. Starting at 6 PM - you can watch a chemistry show of experiments that will be especially interesting for visitors.
Whichever tour you choose and visit, you will not make a mistake. The Museum Night, once again, proves the richness of the cultural, artistic and historical heritage of Belgrade, and it is a great way to visit many of them on the same day.
Taking the break or charging the batteries before demanding tours
Although these tours are very interesting, they can be very hard and exhausting. You're likely to get tired or hungry, so it's not a bad idea to make a little break and charge the batteries. As the tours start at 5 PM (except for children tour), a good and quality lunch can be a great start to this spectacular event.

Skadarlija itself is a famous place with a lot of historical spirits, so the break in one of its cult restaurants is always welcome to relief. Don’t miss the restaurant Šešir moj, where you can enjoy the real traditional dishes of Serbian cuisine. The ambiance itself exudes the spirit of Bohemia and depicts Belgrade as it once was. So, this restaurant, like many others in this part of the city, is an inevitable part of Belgrade's history.
Novi Beograd
If you love planes and other aircraft, you must not bypass the Aeronautical Museum at the Nikola Tesla airport.
When you are near, do not miss to refresh and refill your energy for other attractions, in one of the many restaurants that Novi Beograd has.
